Li Keqiang Meets with Governor-General Peter Cosgrove of Australia

On the afternoon of March 23, 2017 local time, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Government House in Canberra with Governor-General Peter Cosgrove of Australia.

Li Keqiang first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings to Peter Cosgrove, and expressed that both countries have continuously deepened friendship, and pushed forward cooperation in various fields. The Chinese side is willing to share mutual respect and equal treatment, expand space for practical cooperation and enlarge people-to-people and cultural exchanges with the Australian side, so as to enable the development of bilateral relations to better benefit the two peoples.

Li Keqiang pointed out that the peace and happiness of the people could not be achieved without peace and stability. Under the current situation, China is willing to, together with Australia, maintain regional stability and world peace, continuously improve global governance system while promoting the globalization, jointly oppose protectionism and send positive signal of building an open world economy.

Peter Cosgrove welcomed Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Australia, and expressed that both sides are peace-loving countries. In recent years, both countries have conducted close high-level exchanges, continuously deepened dialogues and achieved fruitful outcomes from exchanges at local level, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other aspects. The Australian side is glad to see the maintenance of strong growth of China's economy, and believes that Australia will benefit from it. Australia is ready to continuously expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation at all levels and in various fields, so as to constantly promote the development of bilateral relations.

Premier Li Keqiang's wife, Mme. Cheng Hong and Governor-General Peter Cosgrove's wife, Mme. Lynne Cosgrove attended the meeting.
